Advertising Policy

Inane Ponderings and Other Happy Horse Crap
Posted by WhosPlayin on 2008/7/2 13:43:18 (9538 reads)

It probably seems an odd time to post this, but after seeing some advertisements posted here that must seem out of place, I thought I'd take a moment to clarify our advertising policy at WhosPlayin.com

WhosPlayin.com serves advertising in 4 different ways:

1. TexAds (The BlogAds network of Texas Progressive Alliance Bloggers)
Advertisements here are sold by BlogAds, subject to editorial approval by WhosPlayin. Advertisers pay by the week or by the month for guaranteed placement of the ads. We donate this space to promote the Texas Progressive Alliance or other good causes whenever there is not a paid advertisement in the queue.
Reserve an Ad

2. Google Adsense
Some of the banner ads in the top of the website, and the text ads on the right side of the page and at other places in the site are served automatically and without our editorial control by Google. They serve ads which their system determines would be "relevant" (not necessarily appropriate) to the content shown on the page, and/or the interest of particular individuals reading our website. WhosPlayin does have the ability to ban certain domain names from advertising here, and we do that from time to time. However, due to the ever-growing internet, we can't always catch offending ads.

3. Direct Purchase from WhosPlayin
We can offer you ad space just about anywhere and everywhere on the website either on a pay-per-click, pay-per-impression, or time basis. Most often these ads run in the top banner. Prices are negotiable and reasonable. Email webmaster@whosplayin.com for information

4. Blog Postings (rarely)
From time to time, I post product or service reviews here if I feel particularly moved to endorse a product or service. We generally do this without charge, as we have a disdain for paid blogging. In any case, we do not tolerate undisclosed paid blogging, or blogging about products or services in which one has a financial interest. Further, we prohibit anonymous or pseudonymous blogging and commenting relating to products, services, or political candidates by employees or agents of those candidates, unless that affiliation is fully disclosed. Think twice before shilling, because we can and will use information you provide to publicly out you.

Community Standards
WhosPlayin does not tolerate advertising that constitutes hate speech, blatant falsehood, racism, pornography, violence, or illegal activity. Further, since we are a "progressive" leaning website, we prefer that ads reflect our combined sentiments with regard to political and social issues.

IN ALL CASES, AND WITHOUT EXCEPTION, WHOSPLAYIN RESERVES THE RIGHT TO REMOVE ANY AND ALL ADVERTISING OR OTHER CONTENT FOR ANY REASON.

No Endorsement Implied
Advertisements posted in the normal advertising sections of this website do not imply endorsement by WhosPlayin, our other sponsors, affiliates, and users.

Let Us Hear Your Thoughts
Though we try to remove advertisements such as Google placements that fail to meet our standards, we don't always have the time or resources to remove them all. We appreciate hearing from users about ads they find objectionable. Please know that in some cases, when an ad is marginal, we may leave it in place, knowing that it costs that party money, and benefits WhosPlayin. Just know that when people click it, we get paid. And we don't do this to make money - in fact most of the time we donate our proceeds.
