Democrats from Lewisville, Flower Mound, Highland Village, Carrollton, and surrounding towns can join fellow party members at the First Dual County Fish Fry. The event is jointly organized by the Denton County and Collin County Democratic Parties and will be held on June 19, 2009, between 7:00 p.m and 9:30 p.m. at the Meyers Park and Event Center, 7117 County Road 166, in McKinney.

The fish fry includes four Texas Democratic speakers who have announced exploratory committees that allow them to raise money to run for state and national office. They are Denton attorney Neil Durrance for U.S. Congress; John Sharp, former Texas State Comptroller, for U.S. Senate; and gubernatorial candidates Mark Thompson, and Tom Schieffer. Tom Schieffer, a Ft. Worth attorney, served as U.S ambassador to Australia and Japan. The one-time part owner of the Texas Rangers is the younger brother of news anchor Bob Schieffer.

The Dual Fish Fry features fried catfish, hush puppies, cole slaw and ice tea. Kosher and vegetarian dinners are available. Reservations are $25 per person or $250 for a table. Reservations can be made through www.actblue.com/page/dualfishfry or by contacting Jace Reeder at Denton County Democratic HQ at 940.566.1165
